A Special Summer Home

Horace Upham and his wife, Catherine, wanted a nice place for summer. So, they had this house built in 1899. It was their quiet getaway from the city. The house has a unique look called the Shingle Style.

Helping Kids at Camp Wawbeek

In 1938, the Upham family did something wonderful. They gave their summer home to Wisconsin Easter Seals. This organization helps people with disabilities. The house became part of Camp Wawbeek. It is now a camp especially for children with disabilities.

A Recognized Historic Place

Because of its history and special design, the house is important. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. It was also listed on the State Register of Historic Places in 1989. This means it is protected and recognized for its value.
