Wayne Adams (born in 1943) is a Canadian politician. He made history by becoming the first Black Canadian person to be a member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. He was also the first Black Canadian to serve as a cabinet minister in Nova Scotia.

Early Life of Wayne Adams
Wayne Adams was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1943. Halifax is a city in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.
What Was Wayne Adams's Political Career Like?
Wayne Adams started his political journey in 1979. He was first elected to the Halifax Municipal Council. This council helps run the city of Halifax. He was re-elected five times, showing he was popular with voters. From 1982 to 1983, he also served as the deputy mayor of Halifax.
Serving in the Nova Scotia Government
Adams was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. In 1993, he was elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. This is like the provincial parliament for Nova Scotia. He represented the area called Preston.
As a member of the government, he held important roles. He was the Minister of the Environment. This job meant he helped protect nature and the environment in Nova Scotia. He also oversaw the Emergency Measures Act. This law helps the province prepare for and respond to emergencies. Additionally, he was in charge of the Nova Scotia Boxing Authority.
He served in the governments led by two different leaders: John Savage (from 1993 to 1997) and Russell MacLellan (from 1997 to 1998). In 1998, he ran for re-election but was not successful. He was defeated by Yvonne Atwell.
