Weir (/wɪər/) is a small place in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
Weir's Past: A Quick Look
The community of Weir has an interesting history. A post office was opened here in 1894. It helped people send and receive mail for many years. However, it closed down in 1915.
The name "Weir" was chosen to honor some of the very first families who settled in this area. They helped build the community from the ground up.
A famous person was also born in Weir. Guy Drake, a well-known country music singer, started his life right here.
