Wes Magee was born in Greenock, Scotland. This was on July 20, 1939. He loved writing from a young age.
Before becoming a full-time writer, Wes was a teacher. He taught at schools in Swindon. Later, he moved to Hertfordshire to continue teaching.
Wes Magee wrote many books. He published six collections of poetry for adults. But he is best known for his children's books. He wrote over 90 books for kids. These included poems, stories, plays, and picture books.
One of his most famous poems is called "Windows." His children's poems were even featured on the CBeebies TV show Poetry Pie. Wes loved to perform his poems. He put on poetry shows in schools across the UK. He also visited Germany, the Isle of Man, and Guernsey. He was even a visiting professor at Rollins College in Florida and in Kuwait.
Wes Magee had two sons. He lived in a small village called Thorgill. This village is located in the beautiful North York Moors. He passed away on October 21, 2021. He was 82 years old.
