Wesley Lewis Dennis (born February 10, 1918 – died March 6, 2001) was a talented American baseball player. He was often called "Doc" by his friends and fans. Doc Dennis played as a first baseman in the Negro leagues during the 1940s and 1950s. He was born and passed away in Nashville, Tennessee.

Wesley "Doc" Dennis: A Baseball Star
Wesley "Doc" Dennis was a right-handed player who batted and threw with his right hand. He played for several important teams during his career. These teams included the Philadelphia Stars, the Baltimore Elite Giants, the Nashville Stars, and the Birmingham Black Barons.
Playing in the Negro Leagues
Doc Dennis started his professional baseball journey in 1942 with the Baltimore Elite Giants. He played with them for a few years before moving to the Philadelphia Stars in 1945. He stayed with the Stars until 1948, showing off his skills as a first baseman.
Later, he played for the Nashville Stars in 1949 and then joined the Birmingham Black Barons in 1950. He even returned to the Baltimore Elite Giants for a year in 1951 before finishing his career with the Birmingham Black Barons from 1952 to 1955.
Becoming an All-Star
Doc Dennis was a very good player, and his talent was recognized multiple times. While playing for the Birmingham Black Barons, he was chosen to be a starter in the East–West All-Star Game. This was a very special game that featured the best players from the East and West divisions of the Negro leagues. Doc Dennis was selected for this honor three years in a row: in 1951, 1952, and 1953. This shows how important and skilled he was in the league.
Life After Baseball
After his baseball career, Wesley Dennis enjoyed playing golf. He was an enthusiastic golfer in his later years. Doc Dennis lived to be 83 years old. He passed away in his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, in 2001.
