West Florence, Ohio facts for kids
West Florence is a small place in Preble County, Ohio, in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
A Look Back at West Florence's History
West Florence has an interesting past. It was first planned out and named Florence in 1835. When a place is "platted," it means its streets and building lots are officially drawn on a map.
Just two years later, in 1837, a post office was opened there, but it was called West Florence. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages for many years, until it finally closed down in 1906.
