The West Frankfort City Hall is an important old building in West Frankfort, Illinois. It used to be the main office for the city's government. This building is located at 108 North Emma Street.
It was built in 1921 because the city needed a place for its leaders to work. Before this, West Frankfort didn't have a special building for its city government. The city itself started in 1895 when a train station was built nearby. The original town of Frankfort joined with West Frankfort in 1923.
This city hall is a two-story building made of brick. A builder named S. M. Wilson constructed it for about $35,000. The building served as the city hall until 1979. That's when a new city hall was built. Today, the old building is used for meetings by the West Frankfort Civic Center Authority.
A Special Historic Building
