Wet 'n Wild Orlando was a super fun water park located in Orlando, Florida. It was one of the first big water parks ever built in the United States! A man named George Millay, who also helped create Sea World, opened Wet 'n Wild Orlando on March 13, 1977.

Wet 'n Wild Orlando was a famous water park known for its exciting slides and pools. It was a popular place for families and friends to cool off and have a great time. The park offered many different kinds of water rides.

Who Started This Park?

The park was started by George Millay. He was a very important person in the world of theme parks. He also helped create Sea World. Because of his big ideas and hard work, he was given the Lifetime Achievement Award. This award came from the World Waterpark Association. They even called him the "Father of the waterpark" because he helped start the whole idea of large water parks.

Fun Rides and Activities

Wet 'n Wild Orlando had lots of different ways to have fun. There were many thrilling rides for everyone.

  • Single-person rides: These were slides you could go down by yourself. There were 8 of them!
  • Multi-person rides: You could ride these slides with your friends or family. The park had 6 of these.
  • Kids' park: This special area was just for younger kids. It had smaller versions of the big rides.
  • Other activities: Besides slides, you could also float along a lazy river. There was also a place to play volleyball. If you wanted to try surfing, they had a special area for that too!

Why Did Wet 'n Wild Close?

On June 17, 2015, the park announced that it would close for good. Its last day open was December 31, 2016. A new water park called Volcano Bay opened in 2017. It took the place of Wet 'n Wild Orlando.
