History of White Butte

The community of White Butte had a post office that opened its doors in 1909. This post office served the local residents, allowing them to send and receive mail. It remained an active part of the community for over 50 years, finally closing in 1960. The name "White Butte" for the community comes from a nearby natural landform, which is also called White Butte.
