They do this in many ways, such as:

  • Helping communities improve their local economy.
  • Holding workshops about healthcare.

How WhyHunger Started

WhyHunger was started in September 1975. It was founded by a musician named Harry Chapin and a radio host named Bill Ayres. They were good friends who wanted to make a difference.

Their idea grew from a simple promise between them. It became a large non-profit organization that helps people worldwide.

Sadly, Harry Chapin passed away in a car accident in 1981. But his family, friends, and fans made sure WhyHunger kept going. Today, Jenique Jones is the executive director of WhyHunger.
