William Becton (born December 31, 1968) is an American gospel singer and songwriter. He began his music career in 1995. His first album, Broken, was a big hit. It was released by Intersound Records.
William Becton's songs have been very popular. All of his albums have appeared on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart. This means his music was among the most listened to gospel albums in the country.
William Becton's Early Life
William Earl Becton, Jr. was born in Washington, D.C., on December 31, 1968. He started singing very early in life. At just four years old, he joined his church's youth choir.
He loved music so much that he began to study it seriously. When he was eight, he went to the Sewell Music Conservatory. This helped him become an even better singer. Later, he attended the Duke Ellington School for the Arts. He also studied at the University of the District of Columbia.
William Becton's Music Journey
William Becton's professional music career began in 1995. His first album, Broken, was released on June 1, 1995. This album was a huge success! It reached number one on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. It also sold over one million copies.
His next album, Heart of a Love Song, came out in 1997. It was released by CGI Records and A&M Records. This album also did well, reaching number five on the Gospel Albums chart.
In 2000, he released B2K: Prophetic Songs Of Promise. This album reached number nine on the Gospel Albums chart. His fourth album, Broken, Vol. 2: Live, was released in 2003. It reached number 25 on the Gospel Albums chart.
