William Cunningham, 8th Earl of Glencairn (1575–1630) was an important Scottish politician. He was a nobleman who helped manage the country's affairs.
William was the son of James Cunningham, 7th Earl of Glencairn. His mother was Margaret, who passed away in 1610. She was the daughter of Sir Colin Campbell of Glenorchy. William also had two sisters, Lady Ann Cunningham and Margaret Cunningham (autobiographer).
William became the Earl of Glencairn in 1630 after his father died. However, he was the Earl for only a very short time. He passed away himself in October of the same year.

William Cunningham married Janet Kerr. She was the daughter of Mark Kerr, 1st Earl of Lothian. Janet's mother was Margaret Maxwell.

William and Janet had a large family with three sons and five daughters. Their children included:
