Kids Encyclopedia Facts

William Fytche (born around 1671, died 1728) was an English politician. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the town of Maldon in Essex, England.

A Life in Politics

William Fytche was the son of Sir Barrow Fytche and Elizabeth Bramston. His father passed away in 1673. After this, William was raised by his uncle, George Bramston. George was a smart academic and a judge. He was also a Tory, which was a political group at the time.

William Fytche first tried to become a Member of Parliament for Maldon in 1698. He didn't win that time. However, he was successful twice in 1701. He later left this safe political seat because he wanted to get a job as an official. He hoped Henry St John would help him with this.

In 1711, William Fytche ran for Parliament again and won. He then became a "lottery comptroller." This was a job where he helped manage public lotteries. Because of this new job, he had to give up his seat in Parliament. He passed away on September 12, 1728, when he was 57 years old.
