William Evans Graham was a talented field hockey player from Ireland. He played for the Irish national team. He even won a silver medal at the 1908 Summer Olympics.
Graham also helped his club teams win big. He won the Irish Senior Cup with both Palmerstown and Monkstown. Later in his life, he helped choose players for the Irish team. He also became president of the Irish Hockey Union. William Graham was also a medical doctor.

Starting Out in Field Hockey
William Graham began playing field hockey at Kingstown Grammar School. After school, he joined a club called Palmerstown. He quickly became a key player for them.
Winning with Palmerstown
Graham helped Palmerstown win the Irish Senior Cup. This was a big achievement for the team. His teammates included J.E. Mills and the Peterson brothers, Jack and Walter.
Moving to Monkstown Hockey Club
In 1907, the Palmerstown club stopped playing. William Graham and many of his teammates then moved to Monkstown. He continued his success there.
More Cup Wins with Monkstown
With Monkstown, Graham won two more Irish Senior Cup titles. These wins happened in 1911 and 1914. He played alongside some of his former Palmerstown teammates.

From 1907 to 1909, William Graham played for the Irish national team. He played in 10 international matches.
The 1908 Summer Olympics
Graham was part of the Irish team that went to the 1908 Summer Olympics in London. The team played very well.
Road to the Final
Ireland won their semi-final match against Wales with a score of 3–1. This win sent them to the final.
Olympic Silver Medal
In the final match, Ireland played against England. England won the game 8–1. Even though they lost the final, William Graham and the Irish team earned a silver medal. This was a great achievement for them at the Olympics.
