Sir William Gregory's Life
William Gregory was the son of Roger Gregory from Mildenhall. He became an important member of the Skinners Company, which was a group for people who worked with animal skins. He was also an 'alderman,' which means he was a senior member of the city council. Sir William gave many generous gifts to the church of Ss Anne and Agnes in London.
He was a very rich man. In 1461, he helped set up a special fund at the Ss Anne and Agnes church. This fund was supported by money from properties he owned. Sir William wrote his will on November 6, 1465. It showed that he had two daughters and nine grandchildren when he died in January 1467.
