William Kaye-Parry (born June 28, 1853 – died November 10, 1932) was an important Irish architect and civil engineer. He designed buildings and helped plan important city systems like water and waste.

Early Life and Learning

William Kaye-Parry was born in Ireland on June 28, 1853. His father, William Parry, owned a hotel called the Salthill hotel in County Dublin.

When he was young, William Kaye-Parry trained with John McMurdy from 1870 to 1873. After that, he went to Trinity College Dublin. In 1875, he earned a degree in engineering. He also received special certificates in practical engineering and physics.

His Career and Work

William Kaye-Parry started his own business as an architect and civil engineer in 1877. An architect designs buildings, and a civil engineer plans big projects like roads, bridges, and water systems.

In 1880, he won a competition to design a concert hall for the Royal Irish Academy of Music. He also showed his work at the Royal Hibernian Academy several times. From 1896 to 1903, he worked as a surveyor for the Kingstown Estate.

Working with Partners

In late 1898 or early 1899, he teamed up with George Murray Ross. They even opened an office in London in 1900.

Later, in 1927, an assistant named Arnold Francis Hendy became a full partner. Their company then became known as Kaye-Parry Ross & Hendy.

Expert in City Health

William Kaye-Parry was known for being an expert in domestic sanitation and sewage. This means he understood how to keep homes and cities clean and healthy by managing water and waste.

He was an engineer for the Dublin Sanitary Association from 1883 to 1890. He also advised the Ulster Sanitary Association in 1891. He even helped test students at Trinity College Dublin in sanitary engineering in 1895. He also examined students at the Victoria University of Manchester.

In 1921, he had a serious accident where he broke his leg. He never fully recovered from this injury.

Later Years and Death

After living in London for several years, William Kaye-Parry passed away on November 10, 1932.
