William Leonard (Scottish politician) facts for kids
William Leonard (born February 14, 1887 – died October 14, 1969) was an important politician from Scotland. He was part of the Labour and Co-operative political group. For many years, he served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the area called Glasgow St. Rollox.
He was an MP from 1931 until 1950. An MP is someone elected by people to represent them in the country's parliament, which is like a big meeting place where laws are made.

Changes in His Political Career
In 1950, the area he represented, St. Rollox, was changed. It no longer existed as a separate voting area for the 1950 general election. Because of this, William Leonard decided to run for MP in a new area.
He tried to become the MP for the Glasgow Woodside area. However, he did not win this election. He lost to the candidate from the Unionist Party by 1,109 votes. After this, he did not run for election again in 1951.
