William Nisbet (born in 1759, died in 1822) was a Scottish doctor who wrote many important medical books. His books were special because they focused on how doctors actually treated patients.

Nisbet studied medicine at the University of Aberdeen and became a doctor in 1785. A year later, in 1786, he joined the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, which was a very important group for surgeons. Later, he moved to London and worked as a doctor in an area called Fitzroy Square after 1801. We don't know much about his personal life, but his books were very important for medicine at the time.

  • A Practical Treatise on Diet (1801) – A guide about healthy eating and how diet affects your health.
  • A Medical Guide for the Invalid to the Principal Watering Places of Great Britain (1804) – This book helped people who were unwell find good places in Great Britain to rest and recover, often at spas with special waters.

One of Nisbet's notable works was a book that helped people understand how to prevent and treat illnesses using simple medicines and healthy habits.
