William Pitt the Elder (1708–1778) was a very important British politician. He was also known as the 1st Earl of Chatham. People often called him "William Pitt the Elder" to tell him apart from his son.

Pitt the Elder was known for his strong speeches and his leadership during the Seven Years' War (1756–1763). This was a big global conflict. He helped Britain win many victories during this time. He became the Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1766 to 1768. He was a powerful voice in Parliament and believed in a strong British Empire.

William Pitt the Younger (1759–1806) was the son of William Pitt the Elder. He followed in his father's footsteps and also became a British Prime Minister. What's amazing is that he became Prime Minister at the incredibly young age of 24! This made him the youngest Prime Minister in British history.

He served two terms as Prime Minister: first from 1783 to 1801, and then again from 1804 to 1806. His time in office was during a very challenging period for Britain. This included the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars. He worked hard to manage Britain's finances and strengthen the country during these difficult times.
