The area now known as Williamsburg has an interesting past. Its very first name was "Fruits." A post office, which is where people send and receive mail, was first set up in 1824 under this name.
However, the name didn't stick for long. In 1835, the community's name was officially changed to Williamsburg. This new name was chosen to honor Harvey Williams. The story goes that the post office was once located inside his house, making him an important figure in the early days of the community.
