Willo Louise Davis was born in a city called Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 1949, she married David W. Roberts. Before becoming a famous writer, she actually trained as a paramedic. She started writing in her free time, fitting it in whenever she could.

Her very first book, "Murder At Grand Bay," was published in 1955. This book was written for adults. However, Willo Davis Roberts soon became famous for her books for younger readers.

Willo Davis Roberts won several important awards for her books. These were called the Edgar Allan Poe Awards, often just called "Edgars." She won these awards in 1989, 1995, and 1997. These awards were for the best mystery books for children and young adults.
