Willowdell is a small place located in Darke County, in the state of Ohio, USA. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own official city or town government. Willowdell is famous for hosting the Willowdell Wienerfest, a fun festival that helps raise money for the Special Olympics.
The Story of Willowdell
Willowdell wasn't always called Willowdell. When it was first planned out in 1859, its name was Woodland. A post office opened there in 1857, also called Woodland. However, this post office closed in 1867.
Later, in 1879, the post office reopened. This time, it had a new name: Willowdell. The Willowdell post office served the community until it closed permanently in 1905.
