Wisconsin Golf Hall of Fame facts for kids
The Wisconsin Golf Hall of Fame celebrates amazing golf players and people who have helped the sport grow in Wisconsin. It was started in 1964 by the Wisconsin State Golf Association (WSGA). The first five people honored were E.P. "Ned" Allis, Dick Cavanagh, Lynford Lardner, Billy Sixty, Sr., and Wilford Wehrle. They were all great amateur golfers.

How the Hall of Fame Grew
When the Hall of Fame first started, only amateur golfers could join. But in 1975, the rules changed. This allowed professional golfers, women, and players from public golf courses to be considered.
The first woman to be inducted was Joyce Ziske Malison. In 1980, Archie Dadian became the first player from a public golf course to join the Hall of Fame. These changes made the Hall of Fame more open to all types of great golfers in Wisconsin.
Where to See the Plaques
Today, you can see special plaques for all the Hall of Fame members. These plaques show their achievements and have their pictures. They are on display at the Golf House of Wisconsin in West Allis.
How Members Are Chosen
A special committee from the WSGA chooses new members for the Hall of Fame. This committee includes golf professionals, women representatives, public links players, and people from the media. They meet every year to look at possible candidates.
To be considered, a person must have an amazing golf record or have helped the game of golf in a big way. They must also be at least 40 years old. To be inducted, a candidate needs to get at least 75% of the committee's votes.
