Wolfgang Dietrich of Castell-Remlingen was a German nobleman who lived a long time ago. He was born on January 6, 1641, and passed away on April 8, 1709. From 1668 until his death, he was a ruler of a place called the County of Castell-Remlingen. He shared this important job with his brother, Friedrich Magnus of Castell-Remlingen. Wolfgang Dietrich also held other important positions in areas known as the Margraviate of Ansbach and the Electoral Palatinate. He was born in Remlingen, Bavaria, and died in Castell when he was 68 years old.

Family Life of Wolfgang Dietrich

Wolfgang Dietrich had two marriages and many children. Having a large family was common for noble families during his time.

First Marriage

On July 7, 1667, Wolfgang Dietrich married Elisabeth Dorothea Schenkin of Limpurg in Obersontheim. They had six children together. Sadly, two of their children died when they were very young.

  • Christiana Theodora (born 1669, died 1674)
  • Charlotte Juliane (born 1670, died 1696)
  • Luise Florina (born 1672, died 1676)
  • Christiana Elisabeth (born 1674, died 1717)
  • Karl Friedrich Gottlieb (born 1679, died 1743). He later became Wolfgang Dietrich's successor as ruler.

Second Marriage

After Elisabeth Dorothea passed away, Wolfgang Dietrich married again. On March 7, 1693, he married Dorothea Renate of Zinzendorf and Pottendorf. With her, he had eight more children:

  • Wolfgang Georg (born 1694, died 1735)
  • Charlotte Luise Renata (born 1696, died 1699)
  • Ludwig Theodor (born 1698, died 1698)

  • Sophie Theodora (born 1703, died 1777)
  • August Franz Friedrich (born 1705, died 1767)
  • Ludwig Friedrich (born 1707, died 1772)
