Wood Moy (born June 10, 1918 – died November 8, 2017) was an American actor. He was known for his work in both films and plays. Woody Moy was from New York City. He became interested in acting while studying at St. John's University in Shanghai. He was also an early member of the Asian American Theater Company in San Francisco. He is most famous for his main role in Chan Is Missing. This was the first film made by director Wayne Wang.

Starting His Acting Career
In 1972, Mr. Moy joined a special acting program. It was called the Asian American Theatre Training Program. This program was led by Frank Chin at the American Conservatory Theater. Woody Moy was the very first person to join this new program.
Writing and Performing in Plays
In 1983, Woody Moy wrote his own play. It was called "Lo Foo and the Missing Ming Artifact." This play was for the Asian American Theater Company. In "Lo Foo," Moy played a detective named Charlie Chan. His character was retired but came back to find a stolen old artifact.
Later, in 1994, Moy acted in two more plays. These plays were based on a book called The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston. He played the character Ah Goong in these shows. Woody Moy also appeared in other plays. These included The Wash at Eureka Theatre and Pay the Chinaman at the Zephyr Theatre.
Woody Moy passed away in November 2017. He was 99 years old.
