Brookfield Place facts for kids
Brookfield Place is a group of tall office buildings in New York City. It's located in Lower Manhattan, a busy part of the city. This area is called Battery Park City. Many people still know it by its original name, the World Financial Center. It's very close to the famous World Trade Center.
These buildings are home to many big companies. For example, American Express has offices here. The complex first opened its doors in 1988. A famous architect named César Pelli designed it.
The buildings were badly damaged during the September 11 attacks. They had to close for several months. Workers repaired everything carefully. The complex was given its new name, "Brookfield Place," in 2013.

Brookfield Place is made up of several large buildings. Each one has its own unique features. Let's take a look at some of them.
One World Financial Center
This building is located at 200 Liberty Street. It stands 577 feet (176 meters) tall. It has 40 floors. This building was finished in 1986.
Two World Financial Center
You can find this building at 225 Liberty Street. It's taller than One World Financial Center. It reaches 645 feet (197 meters) high. There are 44 floors in this building. It was completed in 1987.
Three World Financial Center
This is the tallest building in the complex. Its address is 200 Vesey Street. It stands 739 feet (225 meters) tall. It has 51 floors. This building was the first to be finished, in 1985.
Four World Financial Center
Located at 250 Vesey Street, this building is 500 feet (152 meters) tall. It has 34 floors. It was built in 1986.
The Winter Garden Atrium
The Winter Garden Atrium is a special building. It has a huge glass dome. Inside, you'll find many plants, trees, and flowers. It's like a giant indoor garden. There are also shops and cafes here. This beautiful space was also damaged on September 11. It reopened exactly one year later, on September 11, 2002.
NYMEX Building
The NYMEX building is part of the complex. It's at 1 North End Avenue. It is 253 feet (77 meters) tall. This building has 16 floors. It was built in 1997.
