World Hereford Council facts for kids
The World Hereford Council is a group that helps manage and promote Hereford cattle around the world. They work to make sure Hereford cattle stay healthy and strong. They also help people trade Hereford cattle and their genes across different countries.
This Council started in 1951 in England. It was created because more and more Hereford cattle were being sent to other countries. The Council helps connect all Hereford cattle worldwide back to their original records in England.
The main office of the World Hereford Council moves every time a new leader is chosen. As of 2015, the main office was in Uruguay.
What the World Hereford Council Does
The World Hereford Council works to help all Hereford cattle breeders around the world. They are like a global expert group for the breed. They also help solve any problems or disagreements between member countries.
The Council is led by a Secretary General. This person is chosen by the twenty member countries. Each country sends two people to represent them and vote for the leader.
