Wuggubun is a small Aboriginal community located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. It is found about 40 kilometers west of Kununurra. This community is part of the Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley, which is a local government area.
How Wuggubun is Managed
The Wuggubun community is run by its own group called the Wuggubun Aboriginal Corporation. This group was officially formed on August 8, 1990. Being an "incorporated body" means it is a legal organization. It helps the community make decisions and manage its affairs. This is similar to how a school council or a sports club might be managed.
Planning for the Future
Like many towns, Wuggubun has a plan for how it will grow and develop. This is called a "Layout Plan." Wuggubun Layout Plan No.1 was created to help organize the community's land and buildings. This plan follows special rules from the government called State Planning Policy 3.2 Aboriginal Settlements.
The Layout Plan is still a draft, which means it is not yet final. The community needs to approve it before it can be used. This plan helps make sure that new buildings and services are put in the best places for everyone.
