The History of Yatala Pies
The Yatala Pie Shop first opened its doors way back in 1914. Imagine how many pies they've baked since then! It was originally located right next to the old Pacific Highway. This was a main road where many travelers would stop for a tasty treat.
Moving to a New Location
Later, a new, bigger road called the Pacific Motorway was built. This new motorway didn't allow shops right on its side. So, the Yatala Pie Shop moved to a new, modern building. This new spot is still very close to the motorway, just off Exit 38 for northbound traffic. This makes it easy for people to visit.
Facing the Weather
In April 2017, the pie shop experienced a flood. This happened after very heavy rain from Cyclone Debbie. But the shop recovered and continued to serve its famous pies!
