Yellow spot facts for kids
The yellow spot, also called the macula, is a small, oval, yellow area found near the center of the retina in your eye. It's super important for seeing things clearly!

This special spot helps you see with the best possible clearness, which is called visual acuity. It's where most of your eye's "cone cells" are located. Cone cells are special sensors that help you see bright light and colors. Because of these cells, the macula lets you see all the details and colors around you very sharply.
You might also hear the yellow spot called the fovea centralis or Macula Lutea. It's the most sensitive part of your retina. This means it's where the sharpest image of anything you look at is formed. The macula is responsible for your central vision, which is the clear, detailed, and colorful vision you have in good light. If the macula gets damaged, this kind of sharp vision can be affected.
