Yoshiaki Fujita (藤田 義明, Fujita Yoshiaki, born 12 January 1983 in Utsunomiya, Tochigi) is a Japanese former professional footballer. He played as a defender. Fujita was known for his time with JEF United Chiba, Oita Trinita, and especially Júbilo Iwata.
Early Football Days
Yoshiaki Fujita started playing football when he was just six years old. He looked up to famous German players. These players were Lothar Matthäus and Jürgen Klinsmann. They inspired him to become a great footballer. Fujita went to Utsunomiya Hakuyo High School.
Playing for Top Teams
Fujita studied at Juntendo University from 2001 to 2004. In 2005, he signed his first professional contract. This was with JEF United Chiba, a club in the top Japanese league, the J. League Division 1. He played his first game for the team in April 2005. It was a 2–1 loss to Shimizu S-Pulse.
He didn't play much at JEF United Chiba. So, in 2006, he moved to Oita Trinita on loan. He still struggled to get playing time at first. But in 2007, he joined Oita permanently. He then became a regular player in their starting team. He helped Oita Trinita win the 2008 J.League Cup!
After playing over 100 games for Oita Trinita, he moved clubs again. In 2011, he joined Júbilo Iwata, another J1 League team. He stayed with Júbilo Iwata for ten seasons. He played almost 300 games for them in total. In December 2020, he announced he was retiring from playing.
Becoming a Coach
After he stopped playing football, Fujita stayed with Júbilo Iwata. He started a new career as a coach. In 2021, he coached the club's Under-15 team. The next year, in 2022, he coached the Under-13 team. In 2023, he spent eight months as the manager for the Under-18 team.
At the start of the 2024 season, he got a new role. He was named one of the first-team coaches at Júbilo Iwata. This means he now helps coach the main professional team.
