The Ysleta Independent School District (often called Ysleta ISD) is a group of schools in El Paso, Texas, USA. It's the third biggest school district in El Paso. All the schools in the district are located within the city.
Ysleta ISD started way back in 1915. Back then, it was a small school district for rural areas. It had one high school, Ysleta High School, and a few elementary and middle schools. As El Paso grew, more schools became part of Ysleta ISD. Today, the district has 59 schools.
In the 1990s, the district worked hard to improve. By 1998, Ysleta ISD became the first big city school district in Texas to be called a "Recognized District." This award was for how well students did on the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) test. Many schools in the district have also won special awards. Ten schools have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools. Eight others are National Title One Distinguished Campuses.
The leader of Ysleta ISD is the superintendent, Xavier De La Torre.
In 2009, the Texas Education Agency said the school district was "academically acceptable." This means it met the state's learning goals.
The Texas Education Agency also looked at how ready students were for college. For the class of 2010, about 5% of students met the average scores on the SAT or ACT college tests.
