Yuzo Tamura (田村 雄三, Tamura Yūzō, born December 7, 1982) is a Japanese professional football manager and former player. He is currently the manager of J2 League club Iwaki FC.
Playing Career
Yuzo Tamura started his football journey in college. He played for Chuo University from 2001 until he finished his studies in 2004.
After college, Yuzo became a professional player. He joined Shonan Bellmare in 2005. He played as a Midfielder for six years. Yuzo retired from playing football at the end of the 2010 season.
Becoming a Manager
After his playing career, Yuzo Tamura moved into coaching. In December 2015, he joined Iwaki FC. He started by working in the team's scouting department. This meant he helped find new players for the club.
On January 1, 2017, Yuzo was chosen to be the manager of Iwaki FC. A manager is like the head coach of a football team. They are in charge of training the players and making game plans.
Coaching License and Return
To manage a team in Japan's top football leagues, like the J. League, a special license is needed. This is called the JFA official S-Class coaching license. Yuzo did not have this license when he first became manager.
Because Iwaki FC wanted to move up to the J. League, Yuzo stepped down as manager after the 2021 season. He then became the club's sports director for 2022. During this time, he worked hard to get his S-Class license. He earned it in 2023.
With his new license, Yuzo Tamura returned as the manager of Iwaki FC. This happened on June 14, 2023. He took over from the previous manager, Hiromasa Suguri.
