Yves Guillemot (born 21 July 1960) is a French businessman. He helped start the video game company Ubisoft with his four brothers in March 1986. Today, he is the company's chairman and CEO.
Early life
Yves Guillemot grew up in a small village in Brittany, France. His parents owned a farming business. Yves and his brothers helped with tasks like accounting and deliveries.
When the family business faced challenges, they looked for new ideas. Yves's older brother found success selling music CDs. The family business then started selling computers, and soon, video games too.
They noticed that their French supplier charged too much for games. So, in 1984, they began a mail-order business for video games. This business grew very fast. Soon, they were selling games directly to stores. Stores liked getting games at a better price.
Career
After finishing his business studies, Guillemot and his brothers started Ubisoft in 1986. They wanted to create their own games. They saw a big chance in the growing video game world, which they loved.
As the leader of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot helps guide the company. He makes sure new games are made and released on time. He also encourages employees to be careful with spending. He wants everyone to work together to make great games.
