Zodiac, Missouri facts for kids
Zodiac is a small place in Vernon County, Missouri, United States. It's called an unincorporated area because it didn't have its own local government, like a city or town does. This community was located in the southeastern part of Vernon County. It was near a small stream that flowed into Horse Creek, and it was about 942 feet above sea level.
The Story of Zodiac
Zodiac was officially planned out on a map, or platted, in 1881. The community got its name from some natural springs nearby called Zodiac Springs.
A post office was opened in Zodiac in 1882. This was a very important service for the people living there, as it helped them send and receive letters and packages. The post office stayed open for many years until it was closed down in 1914. After the post office closed, the community slowly became less active.
