Ángel de Estrada (born in 1872, died in 1923) was an Argentine poet, writer, and novelist. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He passed away at sea near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He greatly admired and was friends with the famous Nicaraguan poet Rubén Darío. He was also influenced by the Italian writer Gabriele D'Annunzio.

Family History

It can be a bit confusing, but there were two important people named Ángel de Estrada! The first Ángel de Estrada (born in 1840) was the father of the writer we are learning about. The father came from a wealthy family of landowners in Argentina. He helped start the Rural Argentine Society, which is an important group for farming.

Because of his family's connections and money, he became a very successful businessman. In 1869, he started a publishing company called Editorial Estrada. This company is now part of the Macmillan Group, a big publishing company. He also opened Argentina's first paper factory. This meant he helped provide many books and learning materials for the country as it grew quickly. The first Ángel de Estrada died in 1918. His son, also named Ángel de Estrada, became well-known for his own writings.

Career

Ángel de Estrada (the son) started his writing career in 1889. He began by writing several essays, but his best works were in prose, a style often called "modernist." He loved to travel and visited many places. He especially enjoyed France and Italy, where he was inspired by the art and history of the Renaissance period.

He came from a wealthy family and was known for being a true gentleman. In Argentina, he taught at the National College and the Academy of Arts. He also enjoyed writing about his travels. He wrote for various newspapers, sharing his experiences. His writing was known for its beautiful sound and artistic style. He often used new words and paid great attention to describing landscapes and places in detail.

He died at sea in 1923. He was on a ship returning to Argentina from a trip to Europe when he passed away near Rio de Janeiro.
