Éric Assous (born March 30, 1956 – died October 12, 2020) was a talented French writer and director. He was born in Tunis and became well-known for writing plays, movies, and TV shows. He also directed some films.

A Creative Career in Writing and Directing

Éric Assous was a very busy writer. He wrote around 80 radio plays for a French radio channel called France Inter. These were like stories told only with sound.

He also wrote many plays for the theatre. Besides that, he created stories and scripts for television, including three episodes of the detective series Nestor Burma. He also wrote for many movies.

In 2001, Éric Assous directed his first full-length movie, which is called Les gens en maillot de bain ne sont pas (forcément) superficiels [fr]. This means "People in swimsuits are not (necessarily) superficial." In 2002, he wrote another comedy called Sexes très opposés [fr].

Éric Assous received several important awards for his writing, especially for his theatre work.

  • 2014: He received the Grand Prize for Theatre from the French Academy for all his plays. This is a very high honor.
