Ádria Santos facts for kids
Ádria Santos (born 11 August 1974) is a former Brazilian Paralympic sprinter. She competed in category T11 events at six consecutive Paralympics from 1988 to 2008 and won at least one medal on each occasion. She was a final torch bearer at the 2016 Summer Paralympics opening ceremony.
She lost her sight entirely in 1994. She started her career as a sprinter in 1987, at the age of 13, at Instituto São Rafael, a special school for the visually impaired in Belo Horizonte . Throughout her career, Adria accumulated 13 medals in the Paralympic Games, four of which were gold and eight silver and one bronze. In addition to this achievement, she won about 73 medals in international competitions, and 542 medals in national competitions, including the third championship by the International Amateur Athletics Federation.
