Ádria Rocha Santos is an amazing athlete from Brazil. She was a Paralympic sprinter, which means she ran in races for athletes with disabilities. Ádria was born on August 11, 1974.
She was born with very little eyesight and completely lost her vision by 1994. Even though she couldn't see, she became a world-class runner. She competed in the T11 category, which is for athletes who are blind or have very low vision.

Ádria's Paralympic Journey
Ádria Santos competed in the Paralympic Games six times in a row! She started in 1988 and continued until 2008. This is a huge achievement, showing her dedication and talent.
Medals and Achievements
Ádria won at least one medal at every Paralympic Games she attended. She earned many gold, silver, and bronze medals during her career.
- 1988 Seoul Paralympics: She won two silver medals in the 100m and 400m races.
- 1992 Barcelona Paralympics: She won her first gold medal in the 100m race.
- 1996 Atlanta Paralympics: She earned a silver medal in the 100m race.
- 2000 Sydney Paralympics: This was a fantastic year for Ádria! She won two gold medals in the 100m and 200m races, and a silver medal in the 400m race.
- 2004 Athens Paralympics: She continued her success with another gold medal in the 100m race and two silver medals in the 200m and 400m races.
- 2008 Beijing Paralympics: She won a bronze medal in the 100m race, adding to her impressive collection.
Parapan American Games
Besides the Paralympics, Ádria also competed in the Parapan American Games. In 2007, she won a silver medal in the 200m T11 event at the games held in Rio de Janeiro.
Life Beyond the Track
Ádria Santos retired from competitive running after the 2008 Paralympics. She continued to be an inspiration.
Torchbearer at the Paralympics
In 2016, Ádria had the special honor of being one of the final people to carry the torch at the 2016 Summer Paralympics opening ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This was a wonderful moment for her, as the games were held in her home country.
Family Life
In 2003, Ádria married Rafael, who used to be a pole vaulter. Rafael also helped her as her guide and coach during her running career. They have a daughter together.
