The Écartée River (also known as Rivière Écartée) is a small river in Quebec, Canada. It flows into the Bras du Nord river. This river is located near the town of Saint-Raymond in the Capitale-Nationale region.
The area around the Écartée River is mostly covered by forests. The main activity here is forestry, which means growing and harvesting trees. People also visit for fun outdoor activities like hiking or fishing.
During winter, the river usually freezes over. This happens from early December to late March. It's generally safe to walk on the ice from late December to early March. The amount of water in the river changes with the seasons. It gets higher in spring, usually in March or April, when snow melts.

Where Does the Écartée River Flow?
The Écartée River is surrounded by other rivers and lakes. Knowing these helps us understand its path.
- To the north: You'll find Lac de la Bible, Lac Couat, and the Talayarde River.
- To the east: The Talayarde River is also here.
- To the south: The Bras du Nord river flows here.
- To the west: You'll see more of the Bras du Nord and the rivière de la Roche Plate.
The River's Beginning and End
The Écartée River starts from a small, unnamed lake in the forest. This lake is about 0.23 kilometres (0.14 mi) long and sits at an altitude of 390 metres (1,280 ft).
From its source, the Écartée River flows for about 3.2 kilometres (2.0 mi) (2 miles). It travels southwest, going down a mountainside in Saint-Raymond. The river drops about 206 metres (676 ft) (676 feet) from its start to its end.
The River's Journey Downhill
The river's path can be divided into a few parts:
- For the first 2.0 kilometres (1.2 mi), it flows southwest. It then turns west and drops about 170 metres (560 ft). Along this part, water from five small lakes joins the river from the north.
- Next, it flows southwest for 0.6 kilometres (0.37 mi). Here, a small mountain stream joins it from the northwest.
- Finally, it flows another 0.6 kilometres (0.37 mi) southwest. This last part goes through a flatter area where a golf club is located. This is where the Écartée River meets the Bras du Nord.
The Écartée River joins the Bras du Nord upstream from a bend in that river. This meeting point is about 3.3 kilometres (2.1 mi) west of the Verte River. It is also 6.5 kilometres (4.0 mi) west of the Sainte-Anne River.
After the Écartée River joins the Bras du Nord, the water continues its journey. It flows south along the Bras du Nord for about 17.6 kilometres (10.9 mi). Then, it follows the Sainte-Anne River for about 76 kilometres (47 mi). Eventually, all this water reaches the St. Lawrence River.
