The École nationale de la météorologie (ENM), also known as the French Meteorology University, is a special engineering school in Toulouse, France. It teaches students all about meteorology, which is the study of weather and the atmosphere. The school started a long time ago in 1948.
ENM is one of France's "grandes écoles". These are famous schools that train top engineers and leaders. The university has its own main campus. It also has another smaller campus at the École nationale de l'aviation civile. This is where students learn about weather related to aviation (flying planes).
What Can You Study at ENM?
At ENM, students can earn several important degrees. These degrees help them become experts in weather science.
- ENM Graduate Engineer: This is a master's level program. Students learn to become engineers who specialize in meteorology. They might design weather systems or predict climate changes.
- Meteorology Technician: This degree trains students to work as weather technicians. They help collect and analyze weather data.
- Master of Science in Climatology: This program focuses on climatology. This is the study of long-term weather patterns and climate change.
- Specialized Master's Degree: This is another advanced degree for specific areas of meteorology.
Learning and Research at ENM
Most of the teaching and research at ENM is done in French. However, students from many different countries come to study here. You might find students from over a dozen different nationalities!
About 350 students are studying to become graduate engineers at ENM. Many of these students live in special buildings close to the school. These buildings are also near research labs and public transport, making it easy for students to get around.
