Émilie Dequenne (born 29 August 1981 – died 16 March 2025) was a talented actress from Belgium. She became famous very quickly for her role in the movie Rosetta (1999). For this film, she won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress, which is a huge award in the film world. The movie itself also won the Palme d'Or, the top prize at the festival.
Throughout her career, Émilie acted in many different types of movies. These included the exciting historical film Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001), the drama The Girl on the Train (2009), and the intense Our Children (2012). She also starred in Love Affair(s) (2020), for which she won another important award, the César Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Émilie Dequenne's first big role in Rosetta made her a well-known name in European movies. She continued to act in both big-budget films and smaller, independent projects.
One of her successful films was Brotherhood of the Wolf, directed by Christophe Gans. This movie was very popular and earned a lot of money. Émilie Dequenne passed away on 17 March 2025, at a hospital in Villejuif, France. She was 43 years old. She had been diagnosed with a type of cancer called adrenocortical carcinoma.
