Ömer Kavur (born June 18, 1944 – died May 12, 2005) was a talented Turkish film director, producer, and screenwriter. He was known for making movies that often explored deep feelings and human experiences. He directed 14 films during his career, from 1974 to 2003.
His movies gained international attention. For example, his film Gece Yolculuğu (which means Night Journey) was shown at the famous 1988 Cannes Film Festival in France. Later, his film Akrebin Yolculuğu (meaning Scorpion's Journey) was also featured at the 1997 Festival. He passed away in 2005 in Istanbul and was buried in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
