The İzmir Toy Museum is a super fun place in İzmir, Turkey, where you can see all sorts of old and interesting toys! It's also known as the “Ümran Baradan Toy Museum.” You can find it near Varyant street in the Konak area of İzmir.

Discovering the İzmir Toy Museum

This museum is a special spot dedicated to toys from different times and places. It's a great way to see how toys have changed over the years. Imagine playing with toys from over a hundred years ago!

How the Museum Started

The idea for the İzmir Toy Museum came from a talented artist named Ümran Baradan. She was a ceramic artist who loved collecting toys. In 2005, she generously gave a two-story house and all the toys she had collected from around the world to start the museum.

Later, another amazing person, Sunay Akın, also helped out. Sunay Akın had already created the İstanbul Toy Museum. He added many more cool toys to the İzmir museum's collection, making it even bigger and better.

Who Runs the Museum Today?

Today, the Konak municipality, which is like the local government for that part of İzmir, takes care of the museum. They make sure all the toys are safe and that visitors can enjoy them.

What You'll See Inside

When you visit the museum, you'll find different collections on each floor.

  • The ground floor holds all the wonderful toys that Ümran Baradan donated.
  • The first floor is where you can see the toys that Sunay Akın contributed.
