The Oberndorf SK 1920 football club was started in March 1920. A person named Hermann Rasp created the club. By 1921, they officially joined the Salzburg football association.
Before World War II, Oberndorf played in different football leagues in Salzburg. However, they did not play any games during the war. After the war ended, the club started playing again in 1946.
The 1960s were some of the most successful years for the club. During this time, Oberndorf SK 1920 played two times in the Tauern Liga. This league was the second-highest football division in Austria back then.
