111 West 57th Street, also known as the Steinway Tower, is a very tall building in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It was built by JDS Development Group and Property Markets Group. This amazing building has 84 floors and stands 1,428 feet (438 meters) high! You can find it on 57th Street, close to Sixth Avenue.
This tower is one of the tallest buildings in the United States. It is also known for being the thinnest building in the world. Imagine a building that is super tall but also super skinny! Its width-to-height ratio is about 1:24, which means it's 24 times taller than it is wide.
The north side of the building goes straight up to the very top. The south side has some cool "step-backs" near the top. These are like giant steps that make the building look unique.
Building History
Building the Steinway Tower started in early 2014. The very top of the building was finished in April 2019. The whole building opened in 2021. It took several years to complete this incredible skyscraper.
