The buildings at 15-25 Dalgety Road in Millers Point, Sydney, are special old homes known as terrace houses. These homes are important because of their history and design. They are officially listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register, which means they are protected.

These buildings are also called the Dalgety Terraces or Dalgety Terrace. They were added to the heritage list on 2 April 1999.

A Look Back in Time

Millers Point is one of the oldest places where Europeans settled in Australia. It was a very busy area for ships and port activities.

These homes were built around 1911. They were part of a big project to rebuild the area after a serious health issue. The Sydney Harbour Trust built them for workers. Later, in 1986, the NSW Department of Housing started renting them out.

What Do They Look Like?

These are large homes with two floors. They have beautiful wooden verandahs with fancy decorations. The roofs are made of terracotta tiles, which are a reddish-brown color.

Each building has two separate homes inside. One home is on the ground floor, and the other is on the first floor. The stairs that go up to the top homes are often shared by two units. The entrances to the ground floor homes are right next to these stairs.

The buildings are made of brick walls and have tiled roofs. They also feature timber verandahs and railings. They are built in a style called "Federation," which was popular around 1900-1915. The outside of the buildings is in good condition.

Why Are They Special?

These terrace homes are important because they show how the area was rebuilt in the early 1900s. They were built for workers after a big health problem in Sydney.

They are part of the Millers Point Conservation Area. This whole area is special because it still looks much like it did in the 1800s. It has old homes and public spaces from the 1830s. It's a great example of how people changed the land in the 19th century.

Because of their history and unique style, the Dalgety Terraces were added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. This listing helps protect them for future generations.
