The 2002 French presidential election was an important vote in France. It happened on April 21 and May 5, 2002. The president at the time, Jacques Chirac, wanted to be president again for a second time.

In the first round on April 21, Jacques Chirac from the Rally for the Republic party received 19.9% of the votes. Jean-Marie Le Pen from the National Front party got 16.9% of the votes. These two candidates moved on to the second round. In the second round, Jacques Chirac won easily with 82.2% of the votes.
