The 2018 FIFA World Cup was a big international football tournament. It happened in Russia. Many countries from all over the world played in it. The tournament started with a "group stage." This is where teams are put into small groups to play against each other.
Group E was one of these groups. It had four teams: Brazil, Switzerland, Costa Rica, and Serbia. Each team played against every other team in their group once. The goal was to earn points. Teams got 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw (a tie), and 0 points for a loss.
After all the games in Group E were played, the top two teams moved on to the next part of the tournament. This next part is called the "knockout stage." In the knockout stage, if a team loses a game, they are out of the tournament. Only the winners keep playing until a champion is found.
