Looking Back: Events from the Ancient Past (c. 2800-2700 BC)

Even though the 28th century is in the future, the original text mentioned events from a very long time ago, around 2800-2700 BC. These events happened thousands of years ago!

Art and Culture

  • Around 2800 BC to 2700 BC, a special statue called the Seated Harp Player was created. It came from a place called Keros in the Cyclades islands. Today, you can see this ancient artwork at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
  • Around 2750 BC, a very old culture known as the Cucuteni-Trypillian culture came to an end. This culture lived in areas that are now Romania, Moldova, and southwestern Ukraine.

Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia

  • From 2775 BC to 2650 BC, there were some changes and important events during the Second Dynasty in Ancient Egypt. This was a time when pharaohs ruled and built amazing structures.
  • Around 2773 BC, the ancient Egyptians started using a 365-day calendar. This was a big step in keeping track of time, much like our calendar today!
  • Around 2715 BC, a very important period in Egyptian history began: the Old Kingdom of Egypt. This era is famous for the construction of the Great Pyramids.
  • In Mesopotamia, a region in the Middle East, the Early Dynastic I Period ended around 2750 BC. After that, the Early Dynastic II Period began, bringing new developments to the area.
