Early Life and First Steps in Music
Lawrence White was born in Greenville, Texas. When he was 10 years old, he and his mother moved to California. They lived in a few different places before settling in the city of Colton.
In Colton, White started making music with his friends. They formed a rap group called the "Zoo Crew." In 1997, the group recorded their first album, Migrate, Adapt or Die. The album was produced by Tony G. and Julio G.
Building a Career in Music
White's talent helped him get a record deal with Empire Musicwerks. Through this label, he released his first solo album, The Jakal. The album featured famous artists like Bad Azz, Ras Kass, and Kurupt. It also had music produced by well-known producers like Battlecat and Dr. Dre. After this album, White left Empire Music.
Joining G-Unit Records
White's manager also worked with the rap group Mobb Deep. At the time, Mobb Deep was signed to G-Unit Records. This connection helped 40 Glocc join the G-Unit family, signing with their label Infamous Records.
Later Work and Collaborations
As part of the G-Unit team, 40 Glocc worked with many famous artists. He collaborated with musicians like Dr. Dre, The Alchemist, and Havoc. He also toured across the country with big names like G-Unit, Mobb Deep, Ray J, and Snoop & Doggpound.
During this time, he released a song called "Where the Hammers At?". The beat for this track was later used in the G-Unit song Rider Pt. 2. 40 Glocc also created his own music label called "ZooLife Ent." and worked with his group, the "Zoo Babies."
In 2011, 40 Glocc and fellow rapper Spider Loc released a collaboration album. The next year, he released his first solo album in nearly a decade.
